What Type of Fire Extinguishing Agent Does DORIS Water Mist Use?

The DORIS Water Mist Fire Suppression System uses Bioline 3% Aqueous Film Forming Foam (AFFF), a foam-based extinguishing agent designed to form a protective film over the surface of flammable liquids. It is used to suppress Class B fires involving diesel fuel, gasoline, flammable liquids, and hydrocarbon-based fuels.

The extinguishing agent works by forming a foam layer over the fuel surface, reducing flammable vapor release, limiting oxygen exposure, and providing a cooling effect to help prevent re-ignition. The system discharges the extinguishing solution as fine droplets through Water Mist technology, allowing it to control fire temperatures without requiring the large volumes of water typically used in conventional water-based fire suppression systems.

The small droplet size and effective distribution of the water mist enhance heat absorption. When the droplets enter high-temperature areas, they absorb heat from the fire, helping to lower the surrounding temperature and control combustion conditions.

This is why cooling, or heat reduction, is one of the key fire suppression mechanisms of Water Mist technology.
